Allergen: soy

Tofu contains a common allergen (soy). Current guidelines recommend introducing allergens early (from 6 months) as this may reduce allergy risk. Introduce on its own, offer a small amount first, and wait 2-3 days before introducing another new allergen. Watch for signs of allergic reaction: hives, swelling, vomiting, or difficulty breathing. Consult your pediatrician if your baby is at high risk for allergies.

How to Prepare

Use firm or extra-firm tofu, cut into thick strips or cubes. Pan-fry lightly for better texture and grip. Can also be crumbled into other dishes.

Nutritional Highlights

Complete plant protein with calcium (if calcium-set), iron, and manganese. Good option for introducing soy allergen early.
