Allergen: shellfish

Shrimp contains a common allergen (shellfish). Current guidelines recommend introducing allergens early (from 6 months) as this may reduce allergy risk. Introduce on its own, offer a small amount first, and wait 2-3 days before introducing another new allergen. Watch for signs of allergic reaction: hives, swelling, vomiting, or difficulty breathing. Consult your pediatrician if your baby is at high risk for allergies.

How to Prepare

Cook thoroughly and cut into small pieces or mince for younger babies. Can be served in strips for older babies. Remove shell and devein.

Nutritional Highlights

Excellent source of protein, iodine, zinc, and selenium. Low in mercury. Introduces the shellfish allergen early as recommended.
